Hi,

Is there a way to run ubuntu server version off the USB just like live CD but with persistence? The log files can be run of a tmpfs. I could run a persistent ubuntu desktop off a USB. But, I don't need the GUI since the machine will be run headless. Any pointers would be helpful.

the ubuntu usb creator app (currently needs to be run from linux itself) can create USB live image with persistence, else see pendrivelinux.com (i think that was the URL)... the upcoming 9.10 release will have a KDE and Windows version of the live USB creator I believe...

I was referring to the same site and was able to do a USB install using the desktop version of ubuntu. But, was not very lucky with the server version. Server version lacked the casper directory and files all together. Any more insights into this?
