hello guys,
i need guidance n help regarding the formating of lenovo 3000 y500 laptop featuring windows vista home basic
whenever im restarting the laptop with the vista installation cd in it
the laptop is restarting normally and when the cd is inserted keeping the laptop on the installlation procedure starts but after some steps it shows dat there is not enough blank space in c drive so installation is not possible

the old c drive is not getting formatted
and i want to keep my data stored in d drive as before

Boot into any linux live cd/dvd, format the main (C) partition as NTFS, reboot, run Vista installer :)

The linux options should work fine. If you dont have a linux cd, try using diskpart command on the command line. You can get the command line on the Vista DVD itself by going into repair.

Do read up on how to use diskpart before you try it.
