Unlocking US mobile phones

Hi,

I recently got a mobile connection for myself here in my US trip. I got a Motorola mobile phone as part of whole package. Can I use this mobile phone after returning to India. Is there someway to unlock it?
 
normally if ur not under contract restrictions in us.. u can ask ur service provider to unlock the phone for u..
 
Ya my cousin brother got a T-Mobile Motorolla handset in the us and after getting another mobile, he gave it away to his dad. it works fine here in India..
 
not all moiles are locked , it maybe a low end one which by default are unlocked , check that before you u get it, if u have a indian sim, jus put it in n see what happens...

Is it possible to do unlocking myself?
 
search for unlocking phones in craigslist. usually people do it for a certain amount. got mine done long time ago. i say its worth buying an unlocked phone rather than getting one unlocked. (bad warranty experiance). anyways ur call...
 
If you have had the phone for at least three months, call up customer service and ask them to give you an unlock code.
