Hello, I am considering upgrading my old Dell system as it has been giving me a bunch of problems, and the chipset is too old to properly support my SSD.
  1. What is your budget?
    • 20K
  2. What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
    • CPU – Intel Core i7 920
    • Motherboard – Dell OEM based on X58 Chipset
    • GPU - ATI HD 4850
    • RAM – 1GB x 6 (1066)
    • Monitor - Dell 2409
    • PSU - Corsair VX450
    • Cabinet - Dell 435MT
    • Samsung Evo 120GB
    • Blu Ray Disk Drive
    • Bluetooth + Front USB’s
    • Seagate 1TB
  3. Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
    • Monitor - Dell 2409
    • PSU - Corsair VX450
    • Samsung Evo 120GB
    • Blu Ray Disk Drive
    • Bluetooth + Front USB’s
    • Seagate 1TB
    • Cabinet (if possible)
    • Radeon 4850 if required
  4. Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
    • Intel 3.4 GHz LGA 1150 i3 4130 7.1k
    • Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H Motherboard 5.7k
    • Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB 3.4k
    • Cabinet if required
    • I am confused on updating the GPU
Any recommendations or advice is highly appreciated. This PC will be used in an office environment and Adobe CS6 will be the most demanding program to run on it. Also, Will this new setup give me similar or better performance (I am going from a 1st gen i7 to a 4th gen i3)

i7 920 to i3 4130 will be a downgrade unfortunately. There's only been a 5~10% improvement in clock for clock performance over each generation, and there's no way that can compensate for half the cores.
