Hi guys..

Yet to reveal product called defy+ is actually a upgraded version of original defy.

Defy+ is set to ship with Android 2.3.3 and replaces the 800MHz TI OMAP 3610 chip with a 1GHz OMAP 3620, featuring PowerVR plus a couple hundred bonus megahertz.

So what is your thought in this upgrade. What else needs to be bundled with defy+...??

will you hold your purchase for this ...??;)

^^^ Deal didn't go through! ordered a vibrant and then ran into issues with seller on ebay.com -- he delayed the shipping.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

This is great for 2 reasons-
1) A better Defy (duh).
2) The older Defy will get even more cheaper.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

Only if they had a Video Call Camera, it would be more successful.

I have seen people ditch this for Galaxy/Nexus S just for sec cam

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

Defy+ is a good addition for people who are planning to buy it. For people who already has a Defy, it would be a bad upgrade. We can already overclock the Defy to 1 ghz processor, same ram. Lets say that it has Powervr 540 then it would be better, else if it ships with the same 530 then no need to upgrade.

Having a front camera is always good, regardless of whether we use it or not. Always having it is not bad.

With lots and lots of choices in single core market, it needs to have something special for people to justify in buying it or even upgrading to it. Those should be:

* Front facing camera (A must, regardless of usability)

* 4.0 screen size, It seems to be the right size (not big nor small)

* Same ruggedness (Absolutely no compromise in build, else defy is better)

* Bigger ROM (Nowadays having standard 16gb ROM seems to be right given the amount of files we store or use with our phone)

* Good Multimedia and 720p Recording and Playback

* Maybe USB OTG (I know we can work around to make this work with Nexus 1)

* Overall an excellent price. It should not be priced ridiculously, maybe in the 17-18k range. Else definitely people would jump to Nexus/Galaxy S or even better mid tier models given the price.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

^ Get the Nexus S .. :)

The best part is that we will finally have GB on the Defy.

The OMAP3620 will still have the same SX530 graphics so no difference there.

The original Defy was factory underclocked at 800 Mhz.

So its just a marketing ploy as of now as there isn't much to offer here since the Defy has already moved way beyond its intended boundries due the amazing dev community.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

No .. no design changes speculated till now.

Same body , same build just that it will come clocked at 1Ghz and Stock Gingerbread. Rest all is the same.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

I honestly dont know why would one buythe defy+.. U can easily overclock the defy to 1ghz and use roms which are available on XDA. maybe hard core gaming enthus might have a go at this one.....

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

I do not think if hardcore gaming fans would choose this unless it has SGX 540. If it still has the SGX 530 (Which is assumed) then it is not a big upgrade for hardcore gaming fans. Being one myself :) I think even Adrenos 205 is better than SGX 530.

I think they just overclocked it and did not change the hardware or design. Plus it comes with Android 2.3, which might be a big deal for some consumers who are not educated in rooting/modding or afraid to do so to avoid warranty issues.

IMHO, it is a complete waste of model if priced above 16k. If lower than 16k or 15k, then it is decent.

Re: Upgarded version of defy called Defy+

I dont think that you should regret the decision you made... The Defy+ just has 200MHz faster processor than Defy and has 1700mAh Battery and comes with Gingerbread out of the BOX other than that Defy and Defy+ are pretty similar specs wise... If you want you can overclock the Defy's processor too to 1GHz and if you want Gingerbread OS then you can install CM7 and if you need more battery life just wait for the Defy+ to get released in India once it gets released just buy its battery and put it in your defy... i dont think that the Defy+'s battery wont work in Defy... :)

TBH you bought a great phone :eek:hyeah:

Cheers!!!
