drive is out of warranty. suddenly developed ticking noise and doesn't get detected in bios. System waits for a lot of time for AHCI to detect the HDD at the port but then gives some smart error. every time i power the system ON, i can hear ticking noise for 20 to 30 secs while system is stuck at bios trying to recognize the drive. Doesn't show up in windows device manager either.
Drive has personal data like old photos and documents which need to be recovered. I don't want to go for a professional data recovery service. Saw a few videos on youtube where the drive was opened and the head and disc were re-positioned but i am not sure if the same would help me
some inputs would be greatly appreciated.
