Laptops V6608AU/Vostro 1000?

Hi Guys, planning to buy a laptop within 2 days so please help.

Requirements:-

Screen size: 15.4" WS
RAM: 2GB
HDD: >80GB (aiming atleast 160GB)
Brand: Any (Do not have much idea about lappy brands) :S
Use: Doing SAP-Basis related work,surfing,casual gaming,movies, etc
Battery: Again, not much idea how long a good battery lasts
Weight: The lighter the better
Budget: <40k strictly :(
I am considering the Compaq V6608AU
I have read Switch's thread and that he is pretty satisfied with it.
But are there any other models better than this one, like the Dell Vostro 1000 or any other HP/Dell/HCL models?

I suggest go for Dell Inspiron 1520 basic config as given on the website. It comes up to 40,650 after taxes and you cud get some discount by bargaining maybe. Apart from 2gb ram and 1.66 ghz core2duo, you get free Creative EP-630 earphones as well as Laptop bag. And Dell warranty is the best in India.

Vostro 1000 is good but I think its currently more expensive and the config is worse than 1520. For 40K, I don't think there's a better notebook in the market than Inspiron 1520.
 
v6608 is good enough. I bought one last week for a frnd. with 2GB ram it'd be arnd 36k. with std config of 1gb ram, we paid smthing like 34.2k.
 
Hi.. a friend was asking about this..does the 6608 have a webcam and integrated wifi?

The other option is a intelproccy one 1.6ghz but with webcam..
 
Yes WiFi is there but no webcam... there is a similar model of HP which comes with a web cam and a fingerprintreader(useless IMPO) but costs almost 10K extra...
 
YES! i bought the compaq V6608 model and its ultra value for money :D

Using it with XP, though had some problems getting all the drivers.

The only thing i dont like abt it is its cheap plastic glossy body.

None the less its performance is as good as similar HP models.
