Guide
Ok guys some good news and update.
I came running home to post this.
Venice 3000+ is now available with Mnemonic systems. just saw it with my own eyes.
it was LBBLE stepping 0517(17th week of 2005).
I confirmed the stepping is venice on google too.
the price is just 8K. Thats not even 1K more than 3000+ winchester.
hope its same story with 3200+ too.

Also available is 3700+ SD 1MB L2 cache.
Price is Rs.22K

Funky - Thats Gr8 peice of news you have brought.
Thanks a lot for this this gr8 news.

Hope so tha tthe Venice 3200+ Will also be the same cost as Winne.

Whoa Great News Funky.....
R They in lot......
Thinkin of selling mine winnie now .....just for the SSE3 support nd lower voltages venice runs at

Thnx maan :hap2:

There is an error in the price of SD.
it should be approx 14.5 ~ 15K max.

also the initial pricing of venice is undestandably high due to its novelty factor, meaning the dealers will try to max their margins on it.

in reality the price difference should not be 5% more than the equivalent winchester cores.

bu July /August the prices will automatically adjust itself here locally. infact soon the prices of winnies and venice core will be the same.since winnies are being discountinued anyway.

No error in the price.
SD is comming in very small quantities. At the moment only 5 came for whole India.
5 more are comming on 6th June.
Thats about it for the first half of june.
This is what i am told by the dealer. He honestly told his purchasing price will be around 20-21K and he will sell it for 22K. I mean they need to have that kind of margine for high end stuff.
And the major part of this price difference goes in pocket of mass importers.
This is how things work in India. Unfortunate to be honest.

But Venice pricing is spot on.
Darky do ask your dealer about 3200+ my dealer has frankly told he wont be getting any 3200+ and 3500+ any time soon.

lets see.
What is killing me is that this perticular stepping has very good overclocking background.
People have thaken this 3000+ to 2.8Ghz on stock voltage of 1.4v. Makes me so wana go out and buy it.
but this time i will wait for darklord's response and what his dealer tells him.
I want to buy atleast 3200+.

even if it oces well, there will be loads of ppl standing in queue to buy an Overclock-tested CPU :ohyeah:

i always go nuts.
This time for change i am gona wait for Darky's response.
Till then let me try selling overclock tested winchester ;)

Cool news. So venice should be well settled here by July when i buy my rig. And u say SD should be 14-15k? hmmmm.....temptations........back to my excel budget sheet!!!

My Venice is a LBBLE 0516CPBW.. and so far i find it stable at 2475MHz.. But i am quite confident that i shud go higher once there is a new BIOS for my board. With BIOS version 1003, the Venice wasnt even stable at 2250MHz.. then i flashed the BIOS to the latest 1004-Beta and so far its stable till 2475MHz. The funny thing is though i get options upto 1.65V in BIOS for Vcore, Asus probe reads it at 1.58V only!!!

Am waiting for the final release of version 1004 or another board (whichever comes first) and i'll then post the results on my chip. meanwhile, Crazy_Eddy shud be posting the results on his Venice sometime soon ;)

You would be lucky to get 2.6ghz @ 1.55V ~1.6 vcore.......
for 2.8ghz you would need 1.7~ 1.75V vcore or more even...
and i am talking prime95 stable, at least for 30 minutes.:ohyeah:
30 minutes of prime is not an indicator of complete stability. but for daily use (average gaming levels) it should be okay in XP.
ps: I got a quote of 315$ (That is for an "oem" 3700+ SD) by a large OEM abroad.... ( thats Rs. 14K approx...)
oem= no h/s + fan and only 30 days warranty.....

I am not joking man......
i am gone through the overclocking database from many sites 0517 LBBLE is consistantly doing atleast 2.6V @ 1.4-1.45v and minimum of 2.7Ghz prime stable @ 1.5-1.55v. ANd people have taken it to 2.8 with less than 1.65v and 6 known overclocks of 2.8@ 1.4v.
I will post the link, i have just formated my PC and lost all my bookmarks.

EDIT:
Have a look at this link.

There is 1 more thread i will search it up.

@Funky: Try the hardforum.com AMD Processor subforum. I've stickied a Venice/San Diego OC thread, and there are a bunch of results there.

So far of the results i've seen at xtremesystems, the newark (san diego in socket 754 clothing) seems to be the best bet to go past 3GHz on air. Many ppl have reached 3.1-3.2 on air with 2.8-2.9 being the more common. Socket 754 is not dead yet :D. Newark is gonna be my next cpu :)

huh, the a64 as well as fx-55 are San Diego? I thought the fx line was just a desktop version of the opterons, in s940, and required registered ram, etc.
So whats the differnce between a SD 3700+/ 4000+, and the fx-55? (other than clock speed)
