Very urgent- Should I pick an iphone

I have another 6 hours to decide if I should pick up a 8GB iphone or not...
The decision would depend on whether or not I can unlock it properly

I believe there are people who have done, and there are people who are using it in India too..
However, information is sketchy and hard to come by.....
Would really appreciate if someone with concrete info could help me out
 
why don't u pick some other PDA with touchescreen,etc.. instead , just my thoughts, no idea abt the iphone otherwise :)
 
i would suggest against it.... The question isnt if you can unlock it or not... but y would u want to spend so much money on a device that has loads of issues and the prices would fall down drastically after 6-8 months...
 
pick it up man u can always use it as an mp3 player with touch screen support..think of it more as an entertainment device rather than a phone..if u dont think that way then dont buy it though..will be an awesome showoff piece for all ur non techie friends...not on TE though!!!
 
yeah./.i agree wit indrajeet.. in the end its a matter of personal choice though.. but still.. if ur able to unlock it.. i think its a gr8 phone for the price (16k) else think of it as an ipod touch.. anyways its hip an new in india!! ;-)
 
^^Exactly, and as icefusion told why would you want to waste ur money on that, you are known for sensible buying :P, check out Rahul's HTC touch, its really nice and am sure you'll like it. Get me some chocolates :D
 
To the people who say the HTC Touch makes more sense, one line - Hold the iPhone in your hand, watch a video, use the touchscreen, and if you still like the Touch, jump outta the window mate!

Yeah, two of my friends are using the iPhone, I managed to buy two turbSIM's for around 4k each from SLS, and cracked the device, though I've been out of touch with the scene and seems there's a software unlock.

U already have made a decision .. cuz i did read the 6 hr time limit ..

I wd hv said yes for a nice ipod like device.. and No for a fone like device..
but an ipod which wd receive calls and allow u to taks pics.. Hell Yeah ..

Do tell bout ur decision and pics.. iffff u go for it ..
 
sorry guys..the decision in favor of the iphone over the touch is made....i have a windows mobile based ipaq that just sits in my cupboard (yes, WM is that buggy & crappy)

as for the limtations of not being able to install 3rd party apps, i am willing to live with it as I don't need another can do my laundry & cook eggs too kind of phone.....

Having said that, i need help figuring out if I can self unlock it or not....

i didn't pick it up this evening, though my flight is at 5Pm tomorrow so i can still rush an pick it up in the morning from an apple store

I have another 10 hrs to pick it up so plz help if anyone knows it for sure

as for the price, i think at ~16K for the 8gb, it's a neat price considering i paid the same for my N73
 
a torrent for the unlocking the fone is out and i have read that ppl been using it to unlock the fone ...
so i guess that u can do it too ..considering ki u aint no noobie ...
 
The unlock is floating on torrents, etc etc, go buy the phone man, unlocking aint that much of a headache now, as it was when I'd done it!

A few friends in the US chucked their iphones and moved back to blackberrys... iphone might be a nice flashy device, but end of day, you're not buying it for that reason alone I guess.
