Visiting Delhi in Feb 2010 -- need help

Hi guys,

I will be visiting delhi with 5 friends. We will be reaching delhi on Feb 6 at around 11:30. The first thing we are going to do is to reach Karim's near jama masjid. Have heard a lot about this place. Its time i try it out. How far is it from the airport. I have heard the food is not as good as it was used to be. Some inputs are appreciated.

We will have 2 days Feb 6 and Feb 7 in delhi and agra. So do suggest some good places to visit and some budget accomodation(around 400-500 per night). From Feb 8 we are off to Uttaanchal.

you can get he cheapest accomodation at Paharganj. which is near to Jama Masjid, it is quite far from Airport though. you can get an auto rickshaw to reach there.
Akshardham Temple is a new addition to delhi's local sight seeing. Do give it a visit. A also u can passs your day by going here and there in Delhi Metro :p.
also give Cannaught Place and Palika an eye if you've time.
Agra is almost 5hrs from Delhi by a cab.

2days are really less to explore Delhi, if you can mention you priority ... food/bar/shopping/monuments then i will surely recommend you good places :)

Please do yourself a favour and get a ride in the Delhi Metro - a must if you're visiting Delhi even for a short visit IMO. I always make it a point to take a ride from a corner to the other when I visit Delhi occasionally.

Kareem's at NFC is much more better than the one at Jama Masjid. The shorma is a speciality there. you wont even realise that how many you ate in one go. :p

there is no 'Karim's' at NFC ... the shwarma is at 'Al-Bake'

yes they are very good

there was 'tunday kebabi' also there but it closed down a month ago, visit 'prince pan' at NFC

the other Karim's is at Sec-18 atta mkt. in noida

Being a foodie i can suggest a lot of good eating joints

you can check out khan market its just a short distance from connaught place

go to 'salims kebab' for kakori rolls, nveg or to Big Chill for pasta's, pizza's

sad khan chacha closed down (hopefully will be back soon)

or you can also check out 'app ke khatir' a small place on lodhi road opens in the evening the kebabs there are heavenly specially the kakori kebab

nizam's in connaught place also has good kathi rolls

the paranthe waali gali in old delhi has good food but you might get pissed off by the clutter, traffic, crowd best way to there is by metro

haldirams is at various locations lajpat, old delhi, mathura road and deserves a chance

if you want to splurge you can chek out these joints-

Punjabi by nature, Vasant vihar and noida

Bukhara, Maurya sheraton

Great Kabab Factory,Radisson/noida

there are hundreds more of good eating joints but you wont be able to check them all out in a short span of time ....

some good malls are Select Citiwalk in Saket, Ambience Mall in Gurgaon, Great India Place in Noida

if you go to citiwalk you can head over to Hard Rock as well

For general shopping go to connaught place, south ex, GK M block, Lajpat Nagar for tech related needs nehru place

palika also deserves a visit

you can also chek out the NCR region Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida

as for the touristy things the monuments (india gate, qutub minar, red fort, lotus temple, akshardham...etc...) are always there

:D
