Can someone help me to enable the onboard sound on a Asus A8n-E motherboard?

I read somewhere that one should install realtek drivers but on another siteit was mentioned that we also need to install AC'97 codecs, etc etc. It all seemed quite confusing :(

It will be great someone can give a step by step guide one this or point me to some relevant page.:cool2:

getting da same results....BIOS UPDATE IS USUALLY FOR EXTERNAL CARD.... but u can try if nothing is working ....for a BIOS update .....and i think it should be done before installing Vista....still u can try :)

@thexfactor: Do i just need to install the setup from only this one file and will it enable the sound...or do i need to hunt for other files as well?

@Sirusness: What BIOS update are u referring to?

@theXfactor: Thanks, will try and let you know.

By the way, the realtek site has onther download called Ac'97 codecs, which also includes a Vista version. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between these the AC'97 and the high definition one

I finally managed to sort this out. The driver that was needed was the Realtek AC'97 one (the current version is 6213).

I did try the high definition one but it didn't work.

Thanks for all the help.
