Hello guys, recently wall mounted my SONY BRAVIA EX52 40" and its amazing. Now I have a WD TV HD and i need to place it in a wall stand (as this one doesnt have provision for wall mounting).

I have decided to go for a wall stand built with acrylic material.

Is this material suitable for this purpose ?.

I will mount two stands (the other one is for placing my freeagent go hdd) and mount one below the other..

I dont know where in Chennai i can get this material and from whom i can get the stand done. I am from Chennai.

Chennai guys, do you have any idea ?. I am desperately in need of help...

A 10mm thick acrylic glass should be sufficient to bear the weight of the media player and a couple of drives. To hold them in place get these mounts -

They are pretty common in most shops that retail glass related stuff.

Thanx mate. But is it advisable to place both the MP and the HDD together ?. Isnt it safe to have a seperate stand for the HDD ?.

And also i dont know whether this type is available in my locality. If placed seperately would a 5mm stand suffice ??

Will a tailored stand work out in case if i dont get it ??

^Why would you want to do that? A 10mm thick panel measuring 1ft x 1ft in area wouldn't be more than 600~700 INR. I got hold of a similar panel for my previous computer chassis and it cost me 600 bucks. It was a 8mm thk panel though.

A 1ft x 3/4ft panel is more than sufficient to bear the loads of the media player and the hard drive IF you mount and secure them properly to the wall.

What tailor made stand are you referring to anyway? Just scout your locality for a shop that deals with sign-boards and name plates. They deal with acrylic materials and may even lend you one or perhaps tell you where you could source these. Those mounts are available at hardware shops.

The player and the HDD are going to be placed in a area between my cupboard and the TV. So there isnt ample space to keep them together. And moreover i will be frequently removing the hdd for other purposes. So the HDD isnt going to be used exclusively for my player. And i dont want to disturb the MP while removing my HDD...

And should i get a L shaped HDMI cable so that the MP can be placed as near as possible to the wall ? I dont know how reliable L shaped cables are and have not heard of anyone using it...

And are the mounts more secure than screws ?.

The wall brackets\mounts come between 15 and 30 bucks a piece for, the price goes higher for longer ones if the distance required from the wall is more. But for this purpose the 30 bucks one is more than sufficient.

Go for something like these. It will look great..
