If you wanna reduce ur budget u may go for AMD. I heard that AMD is good as Intel and with better vfm and cheap price too.

You may take Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2.1GHz 1MB L2 cache with
Asus M2A – VM AMD 690G and SB600 Chipset for Rs.6100

If you wanna take Intel
Pentium dual core E2160 1.8Ghz - 2450/-
Asus P5GC MX/1333 - 2500/-

Transcend 1 GB RAM @ 667Mhz - Rs. 750/-
Seagate HDD 160GB - 1925/-
Zebronics Cabinet with 400w SMPS - 1200/-
Logitech MM KB and Mouse - 725/-
APC 500va - 2425/- If it seems to be expensive Numeric 600va 1800/-

hey guys:) have increased my budget slightly...

budget 25K ....can i have a core 2 duo set up...or should i stick to AMD setup only..pls suggest as i already have the monitor and going to shop in Nehru place comming saturday...

please ..:(
thanks in advance...

U cud get a AMD mobo with an 780 chipset. i think a few of them r out, like gigabyte for around 4.5-6k. The onboard gfx is really good :eek:hyeah: and it supports hybrid crossfire which does seem to work.

Altec Lansing MX5021 8k ( nothing but the best for such a good sound card  )

AMD Athlon X2 4400+ : 4k

jetway 690G motherboard : 2.5k

Branded 2x1 GB DDR 800 RAM : 2.2k

Seagate 250 G HDD : 3k

Sata DVDRW : 1.3k

APC 500VA UPS: 2.6k

Cabinet : 1.7k

Kbd + mouse : logitech: .7k

total 25k :D

while you can get a C2D , i seriously recommend the MX 5021 because

1) you already have a kickass monitor and soundcard

2) depreciation. You will get killer performance, but at what cost ? their prices will drop like rocks , and at the end of 1/2 years , they wont be worth much.

an MX 5021 will retain most of its value for a long time :)

3) you dont need the performance. Identify your real needs , and get stuff accordingly. Yes, it is cool to have a C2D , but do you need one ? What can it do for you that an AMD X2 cannot ?

Since for you performance is not an issue, and you will be using it for browsing other general activity, I've thrown in 2x1GB - that should be all you need

I've been past quite a few upgrade cycles. the first time , i also bought the fastest processor there was- but now , i get something VFM.For me , the cash can be spent in so many better ways!
