well, if your motherboard ain't HDMI, then you could use a DVI male to HDMI male cable to connect your LCD with your PC or get a DVI Female to HDMI male converter and use a DVI cable. not sure if these are available here, but KMD is here. you would need an audio cable too if you are to use the LCD's speakers.

display would be awesome-- Full HD

This is what i am doing to my sister's 42" LCD :)

it won't be as good as a monitor ,better then crappy TN based monitors but not as good as lets say a dell U2410.the color filter used in monitors are also better then lcd tvs.so is the input lag.
also u have to sit around 5 feet to 8 feet to feel comfortable, without any eye strain on the eyes.
but if used as a HTPC or for gaming it should be fine, for normal surfing, text etc not so great.besides u don't wont ur family members peeping into ur chat or mails due to big size of the screen(which is one of the main reason i don't use a 32" lcd as a monitor):p.

i need a bigger screen... i m lookig for samsung T260HD.. i m not able to find one...

well thats has a TN panel,at those sizes colors will look different from one corner to corner,i can see a color and contrast shift even in a 22" tn based monitor.

How good or bad would it be if a normal computer (mine is 5 years old) with only VGA out is connected to a 46" Full HD LCD TV ?? (I suppose most LCD TVs come with VGA connector right).

No intention of running games or movies but for internet surfing and normal computing that too only some times. Good idea ?

well as long a u have good GFX card HD playback should be fine, but a 5year old comp will suffer with 1080p movies with high bit rate, low end games will also look like crap.u will need atleast a 8600gt for good playback of HD videos,or get a ION based net top/desktop.
text and surfing will be fine, but it depends on ur viewing distance and the individual eyes, with optimum text size it should be fine.personally i would use a tv for HD playback ,gaming only and a 22"/24" lcd as a monitor.

^^ Forget gfx card. the machine does not have anything to talk about. I use onboard graphics. As i said there is NO intention of games and movies. Just net surfing. The pc has just 256 MB RAM and supposedly wont even play 720p :p
