I have rarely seen this happen on TE, if it has even happened before in the first place. :S
Who locked up a thread in a tech section and for what reason?
Any spamming/abuse?? (have been quite busy and quite inactive in the h/w section where i usually lurk aorund 24x7.:()
Haven't most such threads been left open so that certain discussions may continue even after the OP may have had his fill of info.
Even if the thread is opened by someone, haven't we all used those threads to interact with others posting in that thread to discuss/debate options if need be and update ourselves or someone else too with the right info, apart from the OP.
Threads in the tech section are not owned by the OP though started by him/her and shouldn'y be closed imho unless it has deviated from the topic entirely.
It's like slamming the door shut on the face of those who partaked in that discussion.
In bad taste imho.

Please think it over with a calm mind please. :)
I have nothing against this place or anyone and i thought i should put forth my thoughts on something i didn't find in sync with the open culture we have had here. :cool2:

i think that since it was a specific topic, and the need was fulfilled, there wasnt much purpose keeping it open for spammers like us :P ,

besides, we can always spam somewhere else ;) , and he opened a thread in show off where could continue the discussion right ?

^ Every other thread for "going now/tomorrow/in a week's time- to buy PC" etc is specific imho. :)
Then mods should close all such threads imho. :P

ideally all such threads should be closed , but the mods being busy and overworked as they are now , don't find the time. DS found time and closed it for once, that's all :P

^ I wasn't around to offer any suggestions when the thread was active but there was a certain post with prices and maybe a few more which i wanted to quote and post my inputs.
Which someone else referring that thread at a later point of time may have benefitted from.
Especially since it was an AMD related thread and involving some unusual products, of which we usually don't have many other threads to refer to.
Now what?

We have tons of intel related threads for 12K/25K/40K/... and still people will start a new thread for themselves while i feel reading the TE PC buying guide and reading some other similar threads gives enough idea on what to buy and how much to buy them for. :P

And i am not looking at answers/defense from you greenie- even i have been doing it for a fairly long period of time. :bleh:
This is f/b and i expect those in charge to provide valid answers coz i know that "threads should be locked but mods don't have time" is an illogical reply.
Threads in sections open to general public stay open on most public forums. :cool2:

Well TBH I have closed the thread to avoid congrats and similar type of reply in Suggestion thread :) Just like greeny said ...

I will open the thread for now since you want to use it :)

Regards

lol bikey much ado about nothing ? Most such threads i.e. personal in nature as to the intent of discussion are closed on most forums. In this case DS had the time and intent to close it once it served his purpose. That's all there is to it. And we do not generally encourage members to cross post or just add to an already present thread. A new thread topic is generally encouraged and recommended.

Now i'd like to close this topic unless you are still not satisfied ?
