Hey Manu,

Infact I was the undergoing the same dilemma over which external hard drive to buy.

I myselves did a lost of permutations external hard drive reviews; or to buy a good vantec casing and shove in a 1TB WD Green. Well actually buying a casing and then putting in a hard disk (1 TB) would be slighty costlier.

Assuming u buy a vantec casing ( 3.5') for arnd 1700 ( I guess this this shd be the price in NP) and a WD 1 TB Green arnd 4400. S0 the deal would be for arnd 6100/=

Now if u buy a Seagate 1tb External ( USB 2.0 Only - Free Agent Desk ) it would cost you 5700.

Or a WD My Book Essential around 6300 ( USB 2.0/eSATA/FIREWIRE )

So it really depends upon you.

I ended up doing all that calculations and then bought 1 TB Seagate Free Agent Desk - 5700/= My shopekeeper said plzzzz go for Seagete' though I was ready to go for WD.

Dont get too excited by RMA pickup. Thats not the main USP of the drive.

Ultimately the hard disk performance matters and yes I got a 5 year warranty -I checked it on the site :) :)

Do get back if u have any queries
