Storage Solutions WD my passport essential firmware update - will it improve performance?

Presently i have a 500gb version of the above drive with the firmware which came by default. If i install the latest firmware will it provide any performance improvement ? Is the current firmware stable ?
 
Dont play simply with your drives. If the current version is working good dont upgrade unless it is giving any issues. Also before upgrading read about its stability on the net.
 
Actually i feel that usb 3.0 speed is not satisfactory hence i would like to update. I don't have any other issues other than that. Will that reason justify updating it ?

Try to another usb 3.0 port esp. at the back panel. Or update your mobo drivers.
