Storage Solutions What can be done if replacement HDD is DOA ?

We give our hard drives for replacements. When we receive it, it may or may not work properly or can be a DOA as well. (dont know if this has ever happened). So we again send it for replacements.

But it may happen that we send our disk for replacements in its last week/ day of warranty expiration.
Then we receive a certified repaired or a brand new piece in replacement.
And to our shock the received drive is DOA or isnt functioning properly. And now the disk too isnt under warranty anymore.

What can we do in this situation?

Does any drive manufacturer offers special warranty like a month or days owing to such scenarios? Esp. when the drive was submitted in its last days or warranty expiration?

One of my friend who picked up his Seagate hdd yesterday got an important info. from Accel Frontline.

His warranty expired last week just before submitting his hdd for replacements. And he got a certified one yesterday.
He asked Accel people, now that his hdd is out of warranty and what if after going home when he tries testing the newly received hdd and it appears dead/doa or has issues like hi-temps/bad sectors and so on??

Accel Frontline replied "We offer our own 2 - 8 days warranty in case there's no leftover warranty for the received/repaired product and also in such situations customer can directly approach to our office without filling their online RMA process and we deal with the situation so no need to worry about."

I think these lines should ease pressure or tensions among us who might get trap in similar situations in near future. :)

So does that mean if our hdd keeps getting faulty within those 90days we can avail replacements as long as we or seagate are alive??

Yes, you can avail warranty. If your drive dies within 90 days, get it replaced and you get another +90days from Seagate. To verify this, just ask your friend to check his OOW serial number on Seagate website. ;)
