Hi guys,

I've got this old UK model of Panasonic Plasma TV TH-42PX600B VIERA HD Ready which has a display problem. Panasonic India says cannot fix it, display board issues, though the TV comes on. It was my uncle's and now we've got a new Smart TV, what do you think I can do with this?

The issue, I'm told:
The issue I'm told by the Panasonic engineer is that the TV comes on, but there is no display. He said the display board is gone. It is too old a TV and is from UK. They cannot repair it.

What do I do?
- Scrap it? Give to Raddi wala?
- Or would someone want to buy it from me and repair it somehow?
- No point repairing it as we don't need it + already spent Rs.1100 (TV of 42 inches beyond warranty) on the Panasonic engineer to come and check.

Please advise. Thanks.

What is the exact issue?
The exact issue I'm told by the Panasonic engineer is that the TV comes on, but there is no display. He said the display board is gone. After calling Panasonic, they said they don't make this kind of board.

you can try and get it exchanged if you buying new TV. Local TV dealers ( not big ones like Croma ) do take old non working TV
you can try selling it on olx / quikr
recycle it. all electronic manufactures take in old stuff and dispose it responsibly. some even come home to pick up it

Cools, they do have a recycle program. I'll check with them. Thanks

Did you see the board yourself? Something similar happened to my Samsung Plasma during lockdown. I saw a spark and so when i opened it I can see a burnt capacitor. I have not been able to get it checked due to CoVID, but I will be try and get it repaired. Please find some good TV repair guy in your city. They might be able to repair the board or even offer a refurbished replacement.
Yes, one can get a new TV but a cheap LED TV will be no match to a Plasma's picture quality, especially that from Panasonic.
