You can get the following GPU's in budget, Sire --
  • nVidia GTX560Ti ~13000/-
  • AMD HD6950 2GB ~13500/-
  • AMD HD7850 1GB ~13900/-
  • AMD HD7850 2GB ~15500/-
  • nVidia GTX660 (non-Ti) 2GB ~14900/-
Hope this helps, Cheerio!

I thought you got the GPU before,Anyway get the Sapphire HD7850-14.5k if you're willing OC if not then GTX660 would be the card to go for. There are few limitations to GTX660 so it's your call.

The card should max out games on my dell g2410h @ 1920x1080. I need something for 2 years. Please suggest something that best fits my requirements.

You won't be able to max out everything of the latest gaming titles which are coming out but you'll be able to play @High settings,I'd suggest you to get Sapphire HD7850 2GB-15.5k it'll give you better performance on Full HD resolution.

This benchmark is little out of date,I'm assuming that OP won't play Shogun 2 OR he must've played Crysis warhead long before.Only Battlefield 3 sticks out the most for Nvidia Gtx660,Leaving that everything is neck to neck and upcoming offering can favor AMD GPU.It's little trick but overclocking HD7850 and updated drivers will give a better performance than GTX660 which is priced at 18k for Asus and Zotac.
GTX660 fits the bill.

Here are bench runs -- AnandTech - Bench - GPU12.

Apart from compute performance the nVidia offering is a beast.

I play Shogun II and using your logic all benchmarks are useless because Crysis: Warhead after 5 years of release is still a beast to crush Dx 11 cards. And is a major benchmark tool.

Portal 2 and StarCraft II are two games that are also in nVidia's kitty. METRO 2033 and Batman are also in nVidia's pocket.

About over-clocking, let us leave the final choice to OP.

And here is the ~14999/- nVidia GTX660 --> http://primeabgb.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=5226&category_id=463&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53.

That's what's weird that Gigabyte has priced their cards 3-4k lesser than everyone else,Kind of feels little shady about the built quality and other issues,It's OP's choice overall.

Read some reviews for the same then, I have and the only con was the noisy cooler system.Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Windforce OC review - Introduction / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB Review: Introduction - Techgage / Gigabyte GTX 660 Overclock 2GB Graphics Card Review - eTeknix.

MSi is the brand that I doubt when it comes to build quality but that is with personal experience. And they sell the cheapest GTX660 Ti OC edition ~20900/- (OR thereabouts) from SMC International.

I am looking to play on FPS/racing titles and nothing else and that too very casually over the weekend if i get spare time/am not on office tours etc. so i don't want to spend to spend too much on a hardcore gpu which i won't overclock. i will be looking to keep the card for 2 years atleast.

GIGABYTE GTX660 OC 2GB ~14999/- fits the bill completely.

Will perform fine for the next year and some but I feel even the HD5850 you have currently should hold fine for the interim. Buy a HD8*** series card when they release.

what typically would be the resale value for my msi twin frozr 2 5850 in excellent condition with box and all accessories with 1 yr local Indian warranty pending with bill? the card has never been overclocked and handles all the fps/racing titles at max settings -- atleast the ones i play like bf3/cod mw3/grid/nfs/f1 2012/etc.

It will go for ~6500/- -->8000/- (inclusive shipping) INR, anything over that is expecting too much.

You'll get 7.7k max if you get good buyer,Else between 6-7k is the price it'll go for in current circumstances.

According to you guys I should settle for the Ati 7850 2gb. This is good for my needs for the next 2 years? What is the eta of the 8 series Ati cards? Is it worth waiting for that?

Although AMD projects it with that role, the true successor to your card is the AMD HD7950.

AMD HD8*** cards are supposed to release Q2 2013 and later, so if you can hold out till then with the HD5850 you will gain.

5850 is quite a good card and upgrading to a 660 or 7850 will not give you much of a gaming difference that you can realize until and unless you are a professional gamer. The only major advantage will be power saving. Save up your money, don;t just throw it away
