CPU/Mobo What GPU does my board support ?

Hi,

I asked for a 6700k processor for after effects / premiere pro./ cinema 4d work...

My institution already has i7 2600 PC. It is a dell xps 8300 pre built. It comes with 16gb ram, gt 420 gpu. What is the max graphic card I can add on this board? some details below

i7 2600... Will it be able to handle these software or should I go for a new one?
I prefer a new one. But I need to give sufficient reasons for skipping the old processor. What exactly will be the performance difference?

The motherboard has PCIE 2.0... but PCIE 3.0 cards are backwards compatible. so can I add any card on it provided my power supply able to handle it. ? Yet to figure out power supply watts. should wait for the PC to arrive at my hand.[DOUBLEPOST=1486028755][/DOUBLEPOST]though I got the below information, any other views are also welcome

people in dell community have upgraded to gtx 1060/1070
