Storage Solutions What to do when external drive does not show up ??

I am not sure if this thread belongs to this or the OS section. So here it is

Many a times when i connect my external USB devices like external HDD, flash drive or MP4 player, they do not show up in explorer / my computer. They are very well connected and in such cases if i want to do some file transfer either way, i have to use DOS to access that drive. In windows if i do say F:\ (the connected drive is F:\) on address bar it gives some error but works fine in DOS.
The only way to sort this is restart the machine.

try with this .... \\localhost\f$\

looks like some plugin trying to run when you try access via f:\ in address bar ... do antivirus scan

also try in safe mode
