Storage Solutions Where to buy and Externel HDD

Hi guys..
i want to buy an external usb HDD. can any one please tell me where can i buy WD, Seagate, Maxtor or Iomega 80Gb Externel drives at Bangalore..
 
Best option would be to buy a laptop 2.5" HDD(any brand) and a Transcend Enclosure.
by this way, u would get 5 year warranty on HDD and 2 year warranty on casing

If you go for a pre-built HDD with casing from Seagate, Maxtor etc, u would get only 1 year warranty

So, take ur pick

what abt the cost?? will the cost be higher when buying a pre-build hdd??

also i am concerned abt build quality of hdd casing..
 
HDD + casing will be much cheaper than pre-built ones

Transcend Storeget ~ 550

(Chennai - Ritche street prices)

ie, These are for IDE drives and cases

SATA HDD price - i dont know

Transcend Storeget - SATA - 600 to 650

BTW, Transcend cases are very sturdy and reliable

If you want to use it for casual purpose ( and dont bother abt high reliability), go for any cases like Tech-com, Zippy for 100 to 150
 
when i checked, maxtor 80 GB externel drive was available for arround 3.2k.

any way, ill check latest prices of lap top hdds b4 taking a decision..
 
i am looking for a usb powered hdds and not external powered ones.. the additional burden of carrying an extra power adapter where ever i go will kill me. :)
 
I bought a Maxtor 500 gig external for 5400/- from Chenoy Trade Center Hyderabad.

It has a 5 year Seagate Warranty (Maxtor was acquired by Seagate, so all Maxtor products are covered under Seagate Warranty)

Very good deal, IMO!
