hi guys,

I want to buy a 1TB internal HDD within 3.5k, which one would be the best among these two

-> Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB
-> Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB

i think seagate has 32MB Cache and WD has 64MB of Cache
and i guess both costs almost the same...
and what about the warranty, both has 5 years of warranty right???

so i'm confused which one to buy, please help

thank you...

^^^

Can u please explain how seagate is faster than WD, coz i checked both the HDD on there sites, seagate doesn't have 1TB 64MB version, it only have 1TB 32MB...

Seagate all the way

WD green=eco friendly=less power usage=lower rpm when idle,supposedly it will increase with load. But generally its a slower drive acc to most ppl, i dont have any proof to show. And MOST importantly, WD greens have a very high failure rate. While most 1TB drives have failure issues, the WD green is infamous for dying on you..

Seagate = 7200 RPM

WD Green = 5400-5900 RPM (across 6-7 versions but mostly its 5400 RPM)

Throughput of Seagate is much more than WD Green & if you are using it mostly as dump then you will be doing more READ functions where it helps....

First of all Cache size doesnt make a difference.

I mean bigger the size doesnt give you higher performance.

Go for a Brand which has good support lesser failure rates

^.. That's Western Digital... completely different company... :p

Series number is always written on the HDD. Anyway 7200.11 1TB HDD's are long gone & only 7200.121TB is available in the market....
