Needed some ideas about, which brand wall paints are good.

Which details should i look for, anything special to look for wall painting, like texture finish or velvet touch.

Any help from fellow member, who had done with their home painting, please share your experience :):)

Your choices are distemper, emulsion or royale, This is asian paints speak, should be the same with others. Look at the costs per litre ? some time back prices ranged from Rs. 70/130/190. For most uses emulsion is good enough. Distemper if its for somebody else. They always show you that tile with the royale on it and say see how smooth it is along with one with distemper and say see how rough but when i ask for tile with emulsion they say they do not have one :)

So question now is what do you mean by 'good'. Range of colours is very large with AP.

How well the paint works depends on how well the surface is prepared, sanded down or puttied up.
A royale foundation takes more work but you can still use emulsion and get those mirror smooth walls. Dampness makes a big difference, damp walls are not going to allow any brand paint to adhere for any length of time. Fix the dampness before painting.

If you need to paint the whole house, try to find a big shop, the prices will be cheaper than with smaller ones and make sure you are the one buying the paint and not the painter.

which walls are you referring to? bathroom? outside? ceiling? bedroom? Generally, anything with texture (not visual but that you can physically feel) on the walls is not suitable for India... your walls will always be dusty :p

You are not spending any money on wallpaper? looks luxurious! :D

Bro, i am looking to get the best finish, i am planning to go for whole house painting, my whole home is puttied . Last time we had used emulsion, but i didn't liked its finish much :(, i had inquired about velvet touch, its approx 400-460 per liter. Will it be good in comparison to Asian emulsion ??[DOUBLEPOST=1373204331][/DOUBLEPOST]

Take small samples and put them on your wall and then decide.

400-460/litre seems like double the price of Asian Paints.

i have done pairing at 2 of my locations, apart from brand a lot depend of the painter (% mixtures, layer timing and thickness likewise....)

Also do check brand websites, they have some useful tools so as to decide, not sure but they do provide consulting before you purchase it..

If you are concerned about the brand then I would suggest you to go with either Asian paints or Dulux.....both are good and rest just check on your budget and color choice.
