My FIL is visiting me in US and would like me to buy him a good CDMA phone to use with his Reliance server. Most people seem to discourage buying CDMA phones that are not sold by the network, but I did find one post that mentions some blackberry models that could be activated, though none of them seemed desirable. I also found some posts mentioning about the possibility of reprogramming or some such lengthy or complicated process, but I would like to avoid such models. Does anyone have a list of recent Sprint or Verizon US models that could be activated on Reliance network? Since Palm models are now being cleared out, it would be ideal to be able to activate any of these. Though I could find a few threads discussing such models, all of them confirm the possibility to use these phones on roaming, and none of them have any confirmation of a successful activation. I would really appreciate any suggestions of easy to activate models.
