TE market section was made for people to sell computer related stuff and books. In time it included cameras, and cellphones, music systems, earphones, amps, dvd players, and other gadgets. - which are not computer related in any way, or am i wrong?

Now i'm seeing people wanting to sell home appliances and also read about someone wanting to sell healthcare products.

I read the rules. Nowhere is it mentioned which stuff are allowed to be sold here and which are not.

My point is a lot of non tech related products have creeped up in the market section in these years. I cant discriminate between someone wanting to sell an audio system and someone wanting to sell his tv or ac for that matter. Both these goods are not tech related. Both are home appliances.

So can the mods make appropriate changes in the rules or add to the rules making it clear which type of goods/ appliances are allowed to be sold here so that members can read them and abide by them instead of making the marketplace into a, sort of flea market. :)

It should be limited like Electronic devices which fall under category of Personal Computing, Audio/Video entertainment, Gaming.

well since the consumer electronics sections as occasional questions about washing machines,ACs,microwaves,i don't think this is a tech forum for computer or electronics alone.
but i mean who ever try shipping a AC or washing machines:P,usualy they prefer buying localy.

If we have a section in forums for the product = You can sell product, except vehicles :P

so that means that these items can be sold here provided they have a pic with member name and date next to it on a piece of paper:

Home Appliances - Audio systems, TV sets, Bluray/DVD/VCD/CD players, audio accessories, tv accessories, DTH box with access card(?), speakers, home theatre systems, fridges, fans, washing machines, microwaves, water purifiers, media players, vacuum cleaners, etc...

Computer Parts - laptops, branded/assembled prebuilt computers, monitors, printers, computer audio systems, routers, modems, various cards both internal and external, motherboards, cables, processors, processor cooling systems, hard disks, optical drives, blank recordable optical media, cases, fans, etc...

Books - Any book so long as its not obscene, inflammatory, etc ...

Other electronic goods - Mobile phones, ebook readers, watches, digital clocks, mp3 players, cameras, digital photo frames, etc...

What is not allowed - Bicycles, scooters, cars, any type of vehicle. Pirated games/ software, keygens, oem software not accompanied with electronic item they came with, any other illegal stuff.

Pets, animals, etc...

feel free to add to the list.

there are too many rules already, then another rule ????

then another guy will come up with another rule, then another rule & then one after another, why not one section only for rules ????

one day when i'll press New Tech Posts tab, it will be only rules

i remeber some time back , a guy wanted to sell his used dumbells here on TE and the thread was rightly closed by one of the mods saying unless the dumbell has a tech chip integrated into it , it will not be allowed to sell here,

dont remember which mod

whereas a body building thread is allowed, where is the tech chip ?

I agree with 6pack, there must be some sort of agreement on what can be sold and what cannot be. Otherwise we will soon have threads selling beer cans and used underwear

I believe we already had threads selling used razors and what not in the past.

The problem is, day by day the line between gadgets and regular not tech items is disappearing.

And we honestly dont need to be too judgemental about things being sold in market as long as they have some relation to technology.

Why we need to judge someone if he wants to sell a fridge? let him. The seller is also looking for local buyers only, and if TE market helps them find a buyer, then nothing wrong in that.

Obviously we cannot allow provocative items, arms, vehicles, alcohol and illegal material sales here as this is not ADULTS ONLY forum and we do have certain limitations.

Use common sense and that should be enough. If anything too out of ordinary pops up, we are here to deal with it :P

I personally feel common sense should prevail here.

There is no need to demarcate by fixed rule that something can be sold or something cant be.

As there is some sort technology / computing power involved in most of the todays gadgets as rightly said by Shripad, it can be a part of the tech forums.

If something is being put up for sale and which does not suite there is always a report button and it will be taken care of.

my 2 cents.

Well i think he was pretty straightforward there.. :P

On topic, maybe a sub-forum for non-electronic goods will be handy as this is a technical forum as the name suggests..

I agree with Shripad!

Just common sense (which unfortunately is not that common) should be enough. Only rules and rules will in fact worsen it rather than reducing.

Well, obviously. :P

I was taken aback by that being mentioned in the first place.
