I have a HP Pavilion dx2480 PC with following configurations

HP Compaq dx2480

Processor - Intel core 2 duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93 GHz

Memory - 2 GB

Hard Disk - 400 GB

Graphics - 256 MB integrated

DVD RW drive

Monitor - 19" HP v185e LCD

HP Mouse and keyboard

Logitech LS-2.1 speakers

Microsoft windows 7 ultimate

My PC can not run games like F1 2011 but my Vaio can play easily with 512 MB Nvidia Graphic card.

I am willing to buy a graphic card which is affordable and DIY job. I am looking at 512MB and ! GB card only as i am not a serious gamer.

How to know which graphic card is compatible with my PC? Can I install it on my own?

Also I would like to increase my memory also, how to know which type/speed memory is installed in the PC? It now has 1GB + 1GB = 2 GB RAM. How to know whether it is DDR2, or DDR3 and what is it's speed? I would like to add another 2 GB RAM.

it gives you better idea of mobo & RAM

You do this as well as to know whether your PC can accommodate a third party card, please open the side panel of your cabinet and check if it has this slot --

You will need a PCIe x16 slot as depicted in the above picture. It looks like this on a motherboard --

The black one is the slot you are looking for.

If that is there you can mount a third party graphics card, the card versions you can look into are --

AMD HD 6670 1GB ~5500/-

AMD HD 7750 1GB ~6200/-

Hope this helps, Cheers!!
