CPU/Mobo Which is better??

well now that i hav got a 3000+ with MSI rs480 board with integrated radeon, the performance is not too good with new games at even 800*600(at max settings)
so now that my friend faces the same prob of upgrading on atight budget abt 15K and he needs a CPU+MOBO+RAM+HDD+SMPS+VID CARD (if possible)
,I told hom to reconcider getting the RS480 for obvious reasons and he came up with this:

a celeron pinless 2.66 ghz
ASUS P5GLMX (based on 915 chipset),with PCIX
Simtronics 512 mb 400 mhz mem
Samsund 80 GB HDD(SATA)
A XFX FX5600 based card for abt 3500/-

so tell me if he should get it or stick to something like my configuration, his point is that he needs a dedicated vid card, even if a low end one.... is the card worth sacrificing on the CPU +MOBO

Nah the Celeron is useless. For that budget he can try :

AMD Sempron 3100+ 4k (Not sure)

MSI RS480 5k

512MB RAM - 2.2k

80GB HDD 2.8k

The onboard graphics of the RS480 are definately better than the FX5600. He can add a PCIe card later when he can stretch his budget...
 
Why not the Gigabyte 6100 based board ? There is a Skt 754 as well as a 939 version of the board available. Costs 4.2~4.4K.
