CPU/Mobo Which Mobo for Intel Core i7-950 Processor?

I want to build a rig based on Intel Core i7-950 processor. Preferably, compatible Mobo is with onboard Graphics, SATA Ports, LAN and AUDIO.

Will "Intel Desktop Board DX58SO" will be compatible with Intel Core i7-950?

Confusion is over selection of CPU+Mobo combo. Suggestions or techie advice is welcome ....

If you are planning to overclock , stay away from Intel Mobo's
your best bet are Asus X58 sabertooth or Gigabyte X58A-UD3R

other choices somewhat high end are Gigabyte X58A-UD5/UD7

No Intel Core i7-series board has onboard graphics, suggest you look at AMD 1090T and 890/880G chipset, if you still want to go Intel you will need to buy a dedicated VGA card + tell what your usage pattern will as then we will be able to give you a rough budget for your RIG as well as post the best motherboard in your price range hope this helped :)

Even if u dont OC dont get Intel mobos. They are not feature rich for the price on offer. Get a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R ~ 10.8k. Excellent VFM :D Between whats ur total budget for the rig and whats ur primary usage gonna be? Also what's the specs of ur current rig if u have any.

I would suggest you wait for the Intel Sandy bridge processors. The release date is jan 9. its gonna be worth the wait. The Intel Core i7-2600K processor is brilliant. Look it up.

You might want to hold your buying decision till January. From early previews, buying a SANDY Bridge Quad Core will cost about the same(or lesser), but will give the following advantages:

1. Much lesser power consumption, built on the 32nm process(for proof visit inpai.com.cn Core i7 2600K review)

2. OC like wild, 4.7GHz(AIR) on the 300$ model(same price as the Core i7 950 which definitely cant come close to 4.7GHz, max about 4.2GHz on AIR)

3. Mobo support USB 3.0 native(future)

4. IGP on the Processor so you can hold off buying gfx card if ever required

IINM I dont think a person who has a doubt whether "Intel Desktop Board DX58SO" is compatible with i-7 950 will OC for sometime to come.

Yeah :P

a very valid point. But I guess everyone is a noob at one point of time:D

Better wait for sandy bridge

The i7-2600 @ 3.4 Ghz is what u should go for.don't think you will be running dual gpus .so u can go for h67 mobos also. The i7 shud be more powerful than a i7-950.And u can also save on power and cost of h67 mobos will be much lesser than x58-chipset based mobos
