1) Compact (14 inch or less)
2) i5 Processor
3) Good brand (No Acer)
4) Good looking

Based on her budget, i have shortlisted 2 laptops. Please suggest which one should go for.

1) Asus Core i5 6th Gen - (4 GB/1 TB HDD/DOS) 90NX00T1-M00870 P2430UA-WO0079D Notebook (14 inch, Black, 1.95 kg)

2) HP 14-AM091TU CORE I 3 6TH GEN, 4 GB RAM DDR4, 1 TB HDD, DVD RW, 14" SCREEN, BLUETOOTH, WIFI, WEBCAM, WIN 10, 1 YEAR WARRANTY

I can install all the necessary softwares, so having DOS is non-issue.
Kindly suggest. Another other choice is also welcome.

The product is just listed in HP site now. Seems like this is an India specific model (Good news).
HP Notebook 15-bs539tu http://www8.hp.com/in/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=17033495#!tab=oas

You get Onam2017 or another offer where by 2 year extended warranty can be purchased for Rs499 along with the purchase (no online purchase, purchase and bill must be from the same state). So, I believe it's a great deal that you get covered for 3 years warranty.

I would suggest the Asus just because my experience (with my company laptops), ASUS is better. The older HP laptops are workhorses. The newer ones? not so much.

If you have not shortlisted, try to get a Dell Latitude with 3 years complete damage protection - since you want compact and she may be taking this around - we get the i5 variant for 40K plus taxes, while the i3 variant is some 33K. Non DOS of course.

And why don't you want to try acer? Mine has been alive for about five years and it works well. I used to have HP before that and it died after a couple of years...(
