well currently i am on onboard sound...... want to buy a new sound card ......

my budget is 5-15k ....... but i will prefer to save as much as i can :) ..... i mean card sud be a good VFM .....

it will be used in Games>Music>Movies ......

Curently i have promedia speakers but these are only TP for sometime...... will buy a good amp and speakers soon ...... so consider that in mind before suggesting something

and yeah it sud be available locally :)

Thanks
Rahul

This should be available locally soon, I suggest you wait :) I'm guessing it will retail for like 10-11k (Fatal1ty FPS card is available for 18k). Spend as much as you can on a good soundcard, I don't think people upgrade their sound every year although I have but for valid reasons lol.

Rio's advice is good, that card is a good buy... The X-Fi platinum would be better because of the front panel box and remote accessories....

i think THIS one should be good enough... spending 50% extra for the onboard X RAM, which most games dont use is a waste.. even then, its only a marginal improvement in those games that support it

the front panel box and the remote sux! I've got an audigy 2 zs plat pro.. and i NEVER use any of the bundled remote.. the pinnacle tv remote is WAY too good. the creative remote, you need to go through layers of menus to do even the most simplest things. DOnt make the mistake i made. buy the non fatality xtremegamer, and invest that money in your amp/speakers... it will be much better :)

I didn't suggest the Fatal1ty series card for the X-RAM, I suggested it for quality of gaming experience because he seems like a serious gamer with a good budget ;) The bonus is that the card does a good job with music playback too - check out a few reviews on the web yourself. So don't suggest a budget card for someone who is clearly not on a budget run :P

I read this article somewhere stating that sound card also improves the FRAMERATE in games..

I mean i dont see any co relation between the two does such a thing really happen??

well i once split my soundcard+ speaker budget halfway down the middle (13k+ 17k) , and there isnt a day i wish i had just gotten the plain vanilla 2ZS and gotten myself speakers for 24k. just dont want someone else to make the same mistake. bottom line... mid end card + high end speakers> high end card with mid end speakers :D

yeah dude ... the soundcard provides hardware acelleration for audio, and reduces the load on the processor , and thus you get better frame rates.. the improvement is marginal though. 2~5 fps , but that isnt the only reason... most soundcards have much BETTER audio than anything you can get onboard:D

thank u all for the suggestions ....

@rio when that card will be available here any idea ??

can someone tell me which all X-Fi cards are available here ?? with little features and prices .....

Thanks

golden words from greenhorn... how much ever you you save in the card is a plus for the speakers...ofcourse if money does'nt matter then buy it all ;)

As I said in my first post, the first X-Fi Fatal1ty retails in India for 18k... when the Xtremegamer Fatal1ty releases here (hopefully in a month or less), it should easily be < 12k.

If you're interested in something immediately, there's the Xtrememusic available locally for 7.5-8k.

i can wait sometime ..... not in a hurry ..... Xtremegamer Fatal1ty fits the bill .....

It took quite some time for the X-fi series to come to India... lets hope the series refresh makes its way a little quicker. In any case, theitdepot had xfi xtrememusic for around 8k, but right now they only have logitech products listed on their website, everything else is missing...
