PC Peripherals Why is the price of RAM going up?

I was looking to purchase some laptop RAM and the price seems to keep going up every month.

Last month 4GB DDR3 1333mhz was available for about 2k at Flipkart and now its 2.5k

Is there some reason to why the prices have been going up?

Memory prices have been shooting up since January.

Even in US the prices have almost increased 100% compared to prices in January.

I started looking for a particular 2x8gb kit (on newegg).
January - ~$75
Feb end - ~$95 (I bought it )
Right now - ~$150 (Edit: mistake, its $150 now )

Manufacturers are focusing more on memory required for mobile devices. So demand - supply imbalance in the desktop memory space.

Few months back I purchased gskill 8gb 4×2 for 3.1k..
So much price hiked now
