Hi kartikoli,

We can answer to your query properly if you can describe your current condition of broadband connection at your home a bit. Is it wifi one or just ethernet one?

Also, what is your phone model? Does it have Wifi?

Most of the Wifi enabled devices can connect to a Wifi Access-point and directly access internet without use of your computer :)

So you might consider this option too.

Also a card you should be looking for is something like this: belkin wifi | eBay

my phone : Dell XCD 35 [wifi enabled] Dell XCD35 | Dell India

my NET connection : BSNL EVDO [dialup wireless device ... work on CDMA technology ] connects through usb using dialup network

so i want a wifi solution which can receive internet from evdo and then pass on to other wifi enabled devices [i have read that reverse tatering is possible for android phones]

EDIT: i get good speed on my evdo 1mbps~2mbps and i am planning other android phone as well

What you require is using your computer as an access point for other Wifi devices. That is possible when can setup an ad-hoc network with share mode enabled.

(ad-hoc -> computer to computer network connection)

I tried the same with a Reliance Netconnect+ and my laptop. By laptop have in built Wifi cards and with very easy settings you can create a ad-hoc network.

Sometimes they don't work, but in my case it actually worked due to unknown reason :D

Here is what I did:

- Connected my Netconnect+ to internet.

- In control panel -> network and sharing center -> adapter settings(on left panel)

selected the netconnect+ adapter and the ad-hoc (that I created for sharing)

- right-click and select 'bridge connections'

- wait for sometime and your internet will be relayed over wifi :)

I could find this closest to your situation: i want standard way to create an adhoc connection - Microsoft Answers

Now you need to have a wifi card first for the computer you want to use an access point in order to be able to create an ad-hoc network.

thanks appreciated a detailed info

could you link some wifi cards please

i would prefer usb card as i dont have much space in my cabby
