Wifi issue with my laptop

I just got my Asus router and it is working like a charm. I was able to get my phone, laptop and tablet connect seamlessly to the router. Today I ran into a strange issue:

There has been intermittent cut in the power supply ie its there for 5-10 mins and then gone. This has happened over 10 times now (some love from AP power company). I always switch off the router and switch it on once power is back. My laptop battery is dead so it goes into hibernation every time power is cut.

But one time, the power gone and came back in matter of 1 min. Once the power was back started the problem. Router started automatically but when I resume windows on my laptop it cant find my wifi router. It shows other wifi signals but not mine. To top it off my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) and tablet (Kindle Fire) are able to connect to the wifi effortlessly. What could be the error with my laptop for not finding the signal.

Delete it from saved networks list.

And then try to search again.

New development: now removing and searching again doesnt work. Sometimes it shows on my laptop but rejects the password. It is not until I toggle WPS sometime does it work. Any ideas why this is happening?

Delete the connection, reset your network adapter. Right Click your adapter > Diagnose > Next >Next. Now connect again.

Doesnt work. What is infuriating is my phone/tablet connect without hitch. I still need to rely on WPS to get it to work. Dead DVD drive is not helping too. I could've tried installing Asus software.

Anyone can help me by uploading Asus RT-N10E software?

Found something new, might help people having AR9285 based wifi on their laptop/desktop.

There are WLAN channels 1-11 and then 12-14. So when my Asus' router went into the 12th Channel signal disappears. Works fine on my phone and tablet but not laptop. The driver for AR9285 doesn't recognise 12th channel. Need to go to router setting and fix a particular channel for the router.
