Graphic Cards Will a "poor" PSU blow up the Graphics Card?

Hi to all,
I had asked a question about PSUs available in India in this forum a few days ago.
I would like to know what you guys think would happen if someone tried to run a card such as a 6600GT on a weak PSU. Will the graphics blow up if the PSU is unable to provide adequate power?
I think the vedio card makers should have taken precautions for this. I dont think a card can blow up if it is run on a weak power supply. However, I know the computer can hang up.
If any of you have any experiences in which you guys blew up your graphics card because of a low quality psu, please share your experiences with me.
Thanks to all,
Sarosh.

I read the previous thread started by you and from the posts in there, it sounded as if the SMPS is one of the very important components of the PC. If you are having a lot of components attached e.g. HDD, CD drives, graphic cards, etc., they will draw up a lot of power and if they dont get enough power, they would tend to heat up a lot. So it wont 'blow' up your card, but it may damage it in the long run IMHO.

Let the gurus come in and comment. They would be able to better explain this

hi
they ont just burn out but might give you system freezes and hang ups when you play high end games like FEAR(nice game). But i dont think it will blow the card and the manufacturers cant do anything about it ,how can they control power supply .

Thanks Rahul and King.
The thing is I used my 6600GT with my 300W psu and I ran fear. I used the card for 8 months, and there was not a single hang up. I played all the latest games, serious sam2, quake 4, nfs-mw and Fear too.
Then one day my computer refused to boot with the card attached. The rest of my system and psu worked absolutely fine. Now I am getting the 6600GT card back from warrenty, and I am thinking of buying a new PSU.
But I have had not a single issue with my current psu, so I dont really know if I should buy a new one.
Thanks for your response KingKroll. I think if my PSU goes kaput I will simply buy a new one. What I was worried about was that some people say that when the psu goes kaput it will destroy the entire computer with it.

Bad PSUs have been known to take away a lot of things. One of my friends' ATI 9700PRO was blown due to a bad PSU. I know cases where the PSU dies and takes a lot of parts along with it.

^^Exactly... even though initially it may not seem that the psu is causing issues, a bad psu that goes kaput might take out a few of ur expensive components. Best to get a good psu instead of a crappy one :P.

Is a good psu like antec really required if i have a good ups. What is the difference between the antec psu's and the normal cheap psu's
