Again...dunno if this is a stupid question...I have looked around & cant seem to find any answer...

I am getting a very gud deal on a X1900 Crossfire Edition card...

So, what I'm asking here is what the title of this thread says...

will X1900 Crossfire Edition work as a single card ?

or does its royal a$$ has to have a slave ?

It will work. The only difference is that it has an additional chip that allows it to actually "work the data". You can go ahead and slide that single card in and later add the slave.

ATI Tech support will confirm the same.

Even Harshal needs to know the same thing.

Still havent come across on any info wheter it works or doesnt.

If it doesnt, buy a X1900GTO or sumthing :P.

If you need to you can reverify by calling ATI customer support on - 877-284-1564

I have already tried the concept. You could also check with someone on TE who has the Crossfire setup or so his signature says.

X1900GT u mean ;)

@ Darknight, Chaos spoke to his freind in ATi Hyderabad ;)

Also nobody on TE has a CF setup, though some lucky b**ches are trying to change that :bleh:

@ minor - Try posting on XS / EOCF...

Umm because its impossible to get CF edition card here. And it CF edition is purchased from outside it gives option to add 2nd card here itself.

I dont know about this situation though. Havent really seen anyone running just CF edition card. But i dont think of any technical reason why it shouldnt work.

Buy i think i remember couple of sites compareing CF edition card performance against XT and XTX. So it must work as single card right?

I will try to search.

Just did
"ATi customer care is available Mon-Fri, 9AM to 7PM Eastern Time". So I guess I'll call again Monday then.

it wouldnt make sense to make cards that dont work without an additional card...that would be the worst way to sell something... ATi isnt that dum is it? .. this whole mastercard confusion is one reason why SLi is still better

i remember readin on hardocp about a guy using an x1900xt master card and was stated he bought it coz he didnt had enough cash for another card and was planning to buy a normal xt sometime later and CF it, so am sure the x1900 master card will work without cf as well...

Anish - What I said was that I have already confirmed from ATI pre sales tech support on the issue. Secondly I have managed to speak with Ingram Micro L2 Video in relation to the same.

They both say the same thing - The Crossfire Master card can be run as a Single card.

So not really sure what his friend says....... I got checked with two of best resources in the business. And hell Ingram Micros L2 support know almost anything.....

PMed anand64 & he says that the crossfire edition master card will work as a single card.

will be posting on other forums as Anish suggested...lets see what those guys say.

will call ATI on monday for confirmation.
