Win XP SP2 prob on 845GV

Hey guys, need help diagnosing a problem (for a friend).

System Details:
Motherboard: I845GV-D (Asus P4 BP-MX)
Memory : 128MB DDR 266 Mhtz
Hard Disk : 40GB Maxtor IDE HDD
BIOS: Pheonix Award V6.00PG

There are 5 PCS with the same configuration. All 5 PCs were running fine with Win2k Prof. Installed WinXP Prof (OEM Pack) on all 5 systems and loaded SP2. Once SP2 is installed, the systems hang at Winxp logo. Even the keyboard doesn't even respond. Systems work fine without SP2. No errors during SP2 Installation either. Systems hang in safe mode also. Same problem continues for different Media also. Tried with slip-streamed SP2 WinXp prof. OS is getting loaded. The SP2 details/Security Centre Information in Control panel dont show up either.

Any help is appreciated.
 
Had it been on a single system, i wud have suspected HDD. but same thing happens on all 5 systems.. i'll have to get the RAM checked though.. tnx :D
 
masky one of the possible cause:
Have you tried updating the bios of these m/b's ?
as there were reports of bios incompatibility / support between sp2 and some intel p4 bios's. it had affected a few i865 chipset m/b's too.

I also remember there was a patch from MS which you had to install before installing sp2 if the bios support was lacking ....

PS: which processor btw.....??
