Has anyone else obtained Windows 7 through the MSDNAA program? It says that my institute is eligible but before I go through the process of contacting my program administrator, I'd like to know which version is available to those who are in the program.

The MSDNAA page seems to imply that we'll get Windows 7 Professional but I can't view the list of products I'm eligible for until I actually get my login details, so I'm not entirely sure. Google only gives me results for MSDNAA Administrators.

Just got done with the download. Windows 7 Professional, x86 and/or x64, depending on the your program admin.

Cool :)

I just checked and my college also has the MSDN AA program. Will go meet the person in charge of MSDNAA tomorrow. :D :D

I think they discontinued win 7 through MSDNA since sep 17th. maybe they will reintroduce itafer sometime but you can stll get any version of vista or p from there and also make a note that the key which is iven by MSDNA is one time activation ony for windows vista and wind 7. So, make a complete backup and restore it from there ifyou have formatted your C drive.

Q: I have a new computer now, how can I re-install my software?
A: You are allowed to install the software more than once based at the discretion of the program administrator and the software distribution method chosen (i.e. Download, Cd Check Out). Note: if you purchase a Mail Order product (CD media sales method of distribution) you will need to go through the Microsoft Customer Care Center for support: 1-800- 936-5700 in North America/ World Wide 1-800-249-8314. If you have further questions, please contact the PA (Program Administrator) at your school. Your PA's contact email information can be found in the support page. To view this information, please click on the Support button above.

: Does the license (or "key") permanently unlock the software?
A: No - the key allows you to install the software once. If you need to re-install the software, you will need to contact the PA (Program Administrator) at your school. Your PA's contact email information can be found in the support page. To view this information, please click on the Support button above.
So, I guess its one time activation only. Though I think you can use keys for different versions among each other like german version key for english version.

well, i had to reinstall win 7 on my laptop as my hdd started showing bad sectors. i also thought reactivation would not work, but when i tried reactivating it worked out without any issue.

You can activate Windows OS twice directly and after that you will need to call M$ and give a valid reason for activation...

True but the "limit" resets after 6 months or so. If you dont reactivate within a short period, there wont be any problems.

I got my copy of Windows 7 Professional from my admin yesterday.

He also gave me key but it was for Windows 7 Professional N and KN.

When i entered the keys it said key is not valid for this SKU. :@

This was because the version of Windows 7 Pro which he downloaded was normal i.e. not a KN/N/E version as i am in India and here MS gives normal version.

But, the problem is the keys coming from the link on MSDNAA page are for N and KN versions only.

How is that the download is normal version and keys are for N and KN version ? :@

What is to be done in this case ?

Please suggest.
