Don't worry about WW3.

Worry about climate change.
This. Climate change will be a much bigger problem than any of the conflicts we are seeing now or at least comparable in severity to these conflicts.
India is already densely packed in habitable areas. As sea levels rise, people are going to migrate imwards increasing population density even more. Add to that poor air quality, lack of clean water, poor management of rain water, abuse of top soil and we have got ourselves a fine crisis.
Maybe it is just confirmation bias, but for the last few years I am feeling the weather is getting more and more intense. Whatever the season, it is extreme, higher and higher temperatures in summers, lower and lower temperatures in winters. Perhaps rains are getting extreme too. I will have to look into this.

I was reading somewhere a few days back that India is nearing a zero population growth stage - that the newer generations are opting for 1 or 2 kid(s) - implying the population growth rate would slow down over time.
While people in medical fields work to provide better support, improve average age and so on, death is still inevitable.

Combining those 2, we won't go to a level of 170 cr people unless we have dramatic influx from other places, and would rather stabilise to a net 130-140 cr population, hovering to a 150 cr on the upper side.

Now if we consider the variance in the same - cities with 2-5 cr people dwelling vs towns and villages with mere 1000's - density ranging between under 50 to 10k! That is where the main issue arises.

I'm in Kolkata, and over the past decade and half - the city has grown and expanded. from being an approx 15km by 15km in the 90's, it is now approaching 50km x 50km! the suburbs over time grow into the city, the expansion keeps happening.

Now not everyone can afford being in the central and main city areas, and that's where the suburbs pick up. People from farther off - villages and small towns, remote areas would come and stay in the subs. Then they go to work in the cities during the day, and return by night / weekend and so on.

Similarly for other cities - they are absorbing the nearby areas and expanding.

What this does is - combats the growing density in those cities.

But the expanding cities are at a cost - they are taking the space from greens and waters - trees being cut to pave way for "development", water bodies being filled to make buildings, and so on.
And that's where the issue on climate becomes pivotal.

That is, we will take care of the density and change in population patterns in towns and cities, but the greens and blues in and around those places being damaged and destroyed that are leading to an alarming rate of change in the climate is what would inadvertently lead to our own downfall, unfortunately.

The summers are hotter, the winters are chillier, the range in weather are expanding - it has taken us years to reach this crisis - and it's not going to be a one day wonder, or a month, or even a year!

If we take corrective measures today, the next generation will have a better and safer environment to live. This current generation will have to be the buffer and bring the right changes to rectify the said issue.

I'm not sure if this really happened, but the following statement allegedly by Einstein, sums the situation up. When asked what he thinks of the timing and outcome of the WW3, he responded saying there's nothing he could reply on the subject of the WW3 - when and how will it be. But he said he was sure of one thing - there won't be a WW4!
And that is something most of us would agree on.

All large nations have more than enough nuclear capacities to destroy the world multiple times.

Russia and Ukraine? Not likely. This will be over before we know it.

China and Taiwan would be a rather interesting watch for the immediate future, while a long term build up over the geopolitics would pave way for a more pronounced war by the end of this decade, or the beginning of the next one!

We've had bumper crops year on year in the last few years because the monsoons have never failed

Listen to what kids were saying back in the 60's

Other than one of them the rest never heard of the word deterrence.
