Xbox 360 dvd drive not reading discs

I have a NTSC xbox 360 bought from USA last year, its a Jasper and has a Liteon drive, i got it modded through some guy when i bought it, it worked fine for around 6 months until it stopped reading any games(including originals and backups) since then the xbox is lying unused, i got hold of a hitachi xbox 360 drive from a friend.
I am confused how to go about fixing my x360, whether its the laser problem or should i swap the drive itself

Btw i am a newbie at this, so any links for how to go about fixing this will help as i am planning to fix this myself.

actually you have to pot tweak ur drive

also you have to transfer serial number or key from ur orignal drive to hitachi drive u brought from ur friend

Can anyone point out some good guide on how to replace my old lite-on drive with the hitachi one i got..... also my lite-on drive was flashed to read back-ups, how do i do it for the hitachi ?
