New overclocked GeForce 8800-series cards
XFX today announced its latest GeForce 8800-series based graphics cards. The new XFX XXX 8800-series graphics cards take the existing GeForce 8800-series GPUs and overclock them — the first for an add-in board manufacturer. XFX gives the XXX treatment to both the GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS which XFX dubs as fast or faster.
The XFX XXX GeForce 8800 GTX sports a higher core and memory clock. XFX has increased the clocks to 630 MHz core and 2.0 GHz memory—up from the NVIDIA specified 575 MHz core and 1.8 GHz memory clocks. The lower XFX XXX GeForce 8800 GTS receives clock speed increases up to 550 MHz core and 1.8 GHz memory from the default 500 MHz core and 1.6 GHz memory.
Additionally XFX has tuned the XXX BIOS for what it claims as insane action. Aside from the higher clocks the XFX XXX 8800-series are unchanged from the regular GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS models.
Expect the XFX XXX GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS cards to hit retail soon. Pricing is expected at $649 for the XXX GeForce 8800 GTX and $499 for the GeForce 8800 GTS.
