XGI, who produce a line of value priced graphics cards, recently announced another GPU. The chip, codenamed the XG47, will be sold under the Volari 8300 brand name.

Cards based off of the chip will connect to the computer via PCI Express. Also featured are TV-out, DVI, VGA and LVDS. The GPU itself contains 40 million transistors and 4 pipelines in a 2x2 arrangement. It is made using 130nm technology, and will run at up to 350MHz. Also included is full DirectX 9.0 support.

The chip is designed for value or mobile systems, and it uses only 7.5 watts. Release is unknown, as is pricing, but expect cards based on the XG47 to be quite cheap.

I can even say for sure it be worth replacing a Ti 4200/FX 5700 with this. The latest desktop chip from them (xgi) is hammered by a 9600 non-pro.

It's excellent for the price.

Video cards for 500 is a great deal for bulk office equipment.
Spending even 1500 for a graphics card on those pc's would end up being too costly.

it's aimed at Office computing and not at gaming community. Just have a look at its extra features. Also it's the perfect fit for PVR machines.
