Last time i somehow i managed to setup xp on my Amd 3500+ asus a8ne.

but now when i want to setup again, it simply refuses. Tried on other hardisk bt same thing happens.
When i boot from cd it says, Setup is inspecting computer hardware n immediatly gives error "Line 18154 of the INF file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid. Setup cannot continue"
I tried 14 xp setup disks n all cannot be bad right?

n i tested my dvd rw n it copies every cd perfectly.

So what can b the issue here, i'm very much frustrated....err..:@

Have you overclocked the processor, try resetting the BIOS to default settings, also if you have 2 RAM sticks, try installing with only one module.

The XP install might be corrupt. If it was a slipstreamed install, i.e. not an original Microsoft Win XP CD or an original CD onto which patches were slipstreamed using nLite or RyanVM, it might have a problem.

The 14 XP setup CDs you tried..I'm guessing you created them off the same source.

Try and get another Win XP setup CD and see how it works.

yup ... I ran into this one... more than likely your disk is scratched, either try cleaning it or burn another one :)

You are using a Unattended install disc and the there is problem with the answerfile txtsetup.sif in which certain parameters are not correct, try checking this website for more details on how to create unattended Windows XP installs here

Guys as i mentioned, i reseted bios, i tried with single ram sticks and also with my friends ram.(tried almost 22 ram sticks from various sources) And the 14 cds i mentioned, all belong to different people and that too 9 cd's are original licensed copies.

P.S.: I tried setup on my friends pc with my cds and everything went fine.
Also i didnt o/c my system.
Removed all attched hardware, and tried 7 diff harddisks too.

Dude, if i attch the HDD to my friends pc n install XP, his hardware will get load and when i attach it to my pc, it will give BSOD during xp booting.
I tried even that. even wiped the hardisk n even attched a fresh new one.
n no i didnt flashed my bios nor the dvdr/w.

^ might be an issue with the setup not being able to detect devices coz of missing drivers(hdd/mobo-IDE/SATA channel etc.). Are u trying to install from a cd with slipstreamed SP2/SP1? I'd suggest you try installing from a legit XP SP2 cd.

Else extract the .sif file from the disk, open with notepad and check the contents.

Here u go:-

****try searching the error terms on google,,, u might find some help,,,
OR

1) U can install in friends comp n den use it in urs...It WONT give bsod,,If it does,, Try booting into safe mode...Dat SHOULD WORk..

2) If for some reason it doesnt work,, Make a customised Cd using NLite n ryanvm update pack. Use the drivers that came wid ur motherboard cd and include it in d cd using nlite..

If some files r corrupt or anythin,, it might replace it luckily,,,(Id say one more cd wont harm??)

3) try ur friends hardisk in ur comp...See if it works n post d result here..

4) Get a linux live cd n try n boot from it...

5) Open d obove mentioned error giving file and see d contents at dat line...If possible post it here.

6) Try vista DvD,, XP Setup Fuc**d up my hdd too once i had reset d comp in middle of setup,, Goin to format today or tom.

Also tell all d details abt wen dis happned, wat was d status before it happened,, n anything else u notice...

Ps:-if dis solves d prob,, do PM me...:ohyeah:

See if you can get a linux live cd like ubuntu or knoppix, it that runs properly then you know that your basic hardware is working fine.

Are you using XP with SP2?

Are you trying to install on a formatted partition or will be installing XP after you boot from CDROM and then format and then make a fresh install?
