Xperia x10 not recognising Bsnl sim

Hi all,
I've recently bought the Xperia x10 mobile and also subscribed for bsnl prepaid connection so that I can use 3g in my mobile. But, X10 doesn't recognise my bsnl sim. It's saying that there is "no sim card in the phone" and when I unlock my phone it just keeps on showing me the "activating phone" message forever.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S the sim works on other mobiles and other sims work on my mobile. The problem is only with bsnl sim in my x10 all other combinations work perfectly.
I've tried inserting the card multiple times and restarting.
 
how old is your sim card

i had a bpl sim card which wasnt working in my omnia hd but then i bought a new bpl sim card with the same number and it started working :)

try this option maybe it will solve your problem
 
FML...are you sure about that? I've tried a different sim card from the dealer(the one that he uses for recharging other mobiles) and it's detected by my mobile. But the two new sims that I've tried, both have not detected...:(

so, no one with X10 in India can use 3g connection..??
