Even when I am logged out of yahoo messenger it shows me as online. Even if I do not login for more than 24 hours it still keeps on showing me as online. However the other ID that I have is working perfectly fine. It shows me as offline when I am in invisble mode or when I logout.
This would be the first time you would hear anyone say but "Help me get offline!!"

If your Yahoo! ID always shows up on Yahoo! Messenger as being online, even when you are actually offline, you may not have properly signed out of another part of Yahoo!. Here's how to sign in and then sign out of Yahoo! Games:

Go to http://games.yahoo.com. (You can also go to the front page of Yahoo! at yahoo.com and click on the Games link).

Click on one of the games to go to a sign-in page.

Sign in using the Yahoo! ID that is showing up as always online.

On the new page that opens, click on the Sign Out link (usually found in the upper-right corner of the page).

You should now be offline.

If your Yahoo! ID still shows up as online, go to http://chat.yahoo.com and follow the above steps.

Nope doesnt help.. tried both.. am still online although I logged off long back.
Even when I had put my ID in invisible mode before logging off.

Moreover when I used to IM someone using the alternate profile assciated with the ID concerned.. I just used to get signed out of yahoo messenger. i.e. whenevr I hit the send button to send a message to someone using the alternate ID yahoo logs me off and am back to the sign-in window.
 
Do you use any other Yahoo service(associated with that id) - if yes then log-in and log-out of that service.

One more thing to try is - in messenger preferences under privacy - uncheck "Allow Yahoo! web sites to show when i'm on-line" see if that changes the status to offline.

else - clear all your browser cache, uninstall and reinstall YM and try.
 
I dont use any yahoo service for that matter besides yahoo mail. and I have tried tat there too.
tried the privacy thing in messenger..
Also I face no prob with a different yahoo ID so cant be the messenger's fault.. right?
 
rene lemme tell you this is a huge yahoo problem.
even i see some of my frnds always online from this connection i'm using while using bsnl it disappears.
i dunno why i think new yahoo has something to do with t-cookie and isp.. dunno though but its not a big problem.
 
Its not a big problem or it IS a big problem..
whatever this is.. it is frustrating.. can someone link me to an older version of yahoo messenger.. maybe i should give this a shot too.. ive already tried reinstalling the messenger.
 
if u r using ur Yahoo! Messenger on proxy this problem may occur as i have experience the same with my self too... try to connect Yahoo! Messenger with NO PROXY.. and let see... if u can only use Yahoo! Messenger using proxy then u shud first go Invisible then sign out... :$
