damn!!!! just when i was thinking 'bout it bluffmaster beat me to it. ;) though i like most of the characters but i have more affinity towards MAX PAYNE 'coz Max Payne was the FPS that blew me off completely. i mean i had never played a more intense and thrilling FPS like that ever before. it was so involving u almost felt like u were living that character. plus I'd never seen such awesome graphics before. add to that bullettime, shooting people while airborne was awesome!!!!!!! and to think that this game was made almost 'bout four years back. to me 'twas a trendsetter. i think ranking them would do justice to them, rather than choosing one and ignoring all. (choosing only from those games i've played) :-

Max Payne is Not an FPS Dude , Its a TPS ( Third Person Shooter ) !

Ok If I had To Rank These Guyz it would be Like This :

Duke Nukem and Lo Wang duh.
They could own every single of these boys put together and still have time to catch Oprah.

^^ Obvious for some But Not for most ! Moreover they are really very very old games with no graphical candy ! I Might as well add Mario In there :p !

On a Second Thought I would have included them in the List but I had only 10 Slots in the Poll !

But Solid Snake comes very close behind as my 2nd fav. He could hand Sam Fisher his *** to him and all it would take is a blink.

You've even included that faltoo jack carver and left out videogamings only Real Men.
 
Agent 47 course! Max Payne is a bit more rambo-style .. quite incognitive.

Purpose + talent + stealth + Brains + Strategy + Money :) --> Hitman .. no better game with such perseverance , patience and precision. Hitman RULEZ!!

lol, Dukes okay. He's only good with his cheesy taglines which Ash from Evil Dead games does even better (powered by Bruce Campbell's voice!). Or even Nick Kang from TC SoLA. Besides that, i see no diff between Duke and Contra and tons other 'muscles with guns'.
