Graphic Cards Your GFX Card History

I started a similar thread on another gaming forum and now i'm doing the same on TE. Considering all the talk about the latest graphics cards, TE really deserves a dedicated thread that chronicles each members graphic card history. Let's start a discussion to find out who has the most interesting and unique list.

Here's mine:

Desktop:
1) ASUS V3800 Magic 16M
2) ASUS V8170 Geforce4 MX440 DDR 64MB
3) ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (OEM)
4) MSI Radeon HD 4850 DirectX 10.1 R4850-T2D512

Laptop:
1) nVidia Geforce GT 740M (OEM)

Bonus points if you can remember details such as Manufacturer, Model#, etc.! :)

Note: I recommend that we skip iGPUs (integrated) and stick to dGPUs (Discrete) across Desktop and Laptops so that we can maintain some consistency. But if you feel that you want to include iGPUs in your list then go right ahead!

Have owned only 3 cards in my whole gaming career :p

Desktop:
1. Nvidia 6200 Turbocache (64mb) - Brother bought this while I was very young (Class 6 I guess). Wasn't really good for gaming but did well with my 1024*768 CRT monitor.
2. Zotac 9800GT (512mb) - Now this was my very first proper gaming card which complimented my 1600*900 monitor really well. Bought it in 11th standard and lasted my whole college life. It was heavily used for 5 years with each game played multiple times by me and my cousins. At last, the motherboard broke but the card is still fine.
3. Inno3d GTX 960 (2GB)- Bought it a few months back with my own money (job). Will use it for 3 years :)
 
Desktop:
1. nVidia GeForce MX4000 128MB (towards end of 2005) - I had bought this from my savings as a student. Along with this I had also upgraded my RAM to 512 from 256MB.
2. XFX 8600GT 256MB (December 2007) - This was a stopgap card till I was going to get my next card upgrade.
3. XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition 512MB (April 2008) - I waited more than nearly 4 months for this one. Bought is in first week of availability. It was a beast at that time and a game changer.
4. Sapphire HD6950 Dirt edition 2GB (February 2012) - I upgraded to this after 8800GT was feeling ageing. HD6950 I got was unlockable to HD6970 for extra performance.
5. Asus STRIX GTX960 OC edition 2GB (September 2015) - I had snatched this in an Amazon lightening deal at nearly half price. I was amazed by size and Asus build quality. However this did not spend much time with me as I shifted to laptop this June.

Laptop:
1. AMD HD5650 (September 2010) - Since I had to move to other town for my job, I had got HP DV6-3057TX. It worked decently. Laptop is still going strong and my brother is using it.
2. Intel HD530 (June 2016): This is an iGPU. But iGPUs have come a long way now.

Well to be honest list goes something like this ->

1) intel graphics which was with core2due onboard.

2)nvida onboard of asus mobo with am2 socket

3) hd 4250 onboard of gigabyte which i am currently still using as my gfxcard is at servixe center :(

4) asus dc ii gtx 760 2gb ( my first real gfx card )

Yes, I actually thought a massive 8MB of memory on a SiS 6326 was a good thing. Nevermind the fact that the thing couldn't run any game over 320x240.
Also it came with heatsinks on the video memory modules :blackalien:.

-> R9 290 till it died (Started giving BSODs with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR when driver loads, I still use it for display out in BIOS when processor doesn't have iGPU)

-> Founders RTX 3070 (sold because wasn't playing RTX games)

Circa 1998: some weird SiS card that was used in a celeron 300A machine
Circa 2000: Asus Riva TNT2 Ultra 3i2 MB (nVidia TNT2) on a Pentium 733 machine.
Circa 2006: Gainward GeForce 7900GTX 512MiB
Circa 2008: Asus Ati Radeon 4870 512MiB
May 2012: HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GiB
Aug.2019: Galax GTX970 Black OC (used purchase)
Aug. 2022: MSI GTX1080Ti Gaming X ( used purchase on TE)

A circa 2005 RadeonXpress iGPU on socket 939 Athlon64 might also be counted - was one of the best iGPUs I've ever used. Full DX9 support. HL2 was pretty great on that at CRT 800.600
