ZTE has announced their new smartphone, the ZTE U950. What's really special about this smartphone is that it packs a quad core CPU, the quad core nVidia Tegra 3 chipset (which is the same as the HTC One X, by the way). But wait? How is that special? Well that's because this smartphone comes with an ultra affordable (for a quad core, or a dual core for that matter) price tag of just $160. Read on to know more.

ZTE U950

The ZTE U950 is not the firm's first quad core. However, this is by far the firm's cheapest (and world's cheapest) quad core smartphone. We have to mention something special about ZTE. ZTE is now the 4th largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, bigger than the likes of HTC as well. Coming back to the ZTE U950. While the smartphone doesn't pack an HD display or 2 GB of RAM, that would be foolish to expect in the first place from a device at this price range. In fact, what this device offers is more than just satisfactory. Let's have a look at it's innards:
  • nVidia Tegra 3 T30 chipset
  • 1.3 GHz quad core ARM Cortex A9
  • 12 core GeForce ULP GPU
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 4.3" WVGA (800x480) display
  • 5 MP rear camera, 1080p video recording
  • Front facing camera for video calling
  • 9 mm thick body
  • 2,000 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 ICS

The only parts where we wished for slightly more is the display (if it only were a qHD or HD display) and the OS (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean). Even without these, at $160 there really isn't much to argue with a device like this. This smartphone will surely sell like hot cakes.
