I believe it was a damaged connector from dropping the phone. No visible damage from outside but the connector inside somehow broke. Probably the poor QC others mentioned.

I would say 27" 1440p is recommended a lot as there are a lot of good option that are pretty cheap so would make sense to pay a little more to go bigger but given that isnt the case for you its not really worth the cost for the little extra imo. I upgraded from 23" 1080p 60 Hz to 27" 1440p 170...
